The Joy of Limitations: Lisa Kokin Talks About Her Process
March 30th, 2-4pm
and Slow Art Day
April 6th, 12-3pm
The Inner Room at Gearbox Gallery is an intimate space that features special exhibitions from time to time, coming soon:
Artist's Statement: I work with found, natural materials—branches, leaves, seeds, seed pods—materials that are commonly ignored, mulched, tossed aside, walked on, invisible. I am attracted to them, collect them wherever I find them in the landscape and store them in a vintage seed cabinet. To me they are intrinsically beautiful, haunting, and humorous. By juxtaposing them in unexpected combinations, they begin to speak, becoming creatures or beings in their own right.
