Modus Operandi: Work by Joseph Mele

CLOSING RECEPTION:  Saturday, May 28th from 2-4 pm

April 28 – May 28, 2016

Mele has a very particular way of approaching media and organizing elements that identifies and unifies his work; a certain amount of obsessive compulsiveness, a certain amount of energy and dedication to the repetitive exploration of materials. The work serves to express the disparate & varied aspects of the inner life of the artist. Modus Operandi brings together the latest of his explorations in paint, sculpture and works on paper.

After studying photography & design in New York, Mele moved to the west coast in the early 90’s and ultimately found his home in a live/work space in the historic Benicia Arsenal District overlooking the Carquinez Strait.

The exhibit will be at GearBox Gallery, 770 West Grand Ave in Oakland from April 28 to May 28, 2016 with an opening reception during the First Friday Art Walk, May 6th from 6-9 pm.

Also showing at the GearBox Gallery are works by member artists.

The GearBox is open Thursdays and Fridays from 12 to 6 pm and Saturdays from 11 am to 5 pm. GearBox Gallery is also open 6-9 pm the First Friday of every month as part of the Oakland Art Murmur Art Walk.
