Ann Holsberry and TaVee McAllister Lee
Saturday, June 22nd
from 2 – 4 pm, with the talk starting at 2:30 pm
Ann Holsberry works primarily with cyanotype, an experimental photographic process that uses outdoor sunlight and other natural elements in the exposure. In various outdoor locations, she works in collaboration with natural phenomena to record the passage of time and the impact of humanity on natural ecosystems. Her process can be seen as an explorer’s journey as she discovers new ways of seeing and recording the natural world by using materials and elements endemic to a particular place and time.
Holsberry is a recipient of a Berkeley Civic Arts Grant for 2018-19. Her work has been shown both nationally and internationally, and she has had solo exhibitions at the Morris Graves Museum of Art in Eureka, the de Saisset Museum of Art in Santa Clara, the Los Medanos College Art Gallery in Pittsburg, California, the Jacksonville Art Museum in Florida; and the Domaine des Grands Devers in Valreas, France. Her art has twice been selected by the City of Emeryville to be displayed in bus shelters citywide, and is in public and private collections throughout the United States and Europe, including the new UCSF Cancer Treatment Center in San Francisco’s Mission Bay.
