Pete Belkin is a visual artist, curator, exhibition designer, and media producer. His curatorial projects have been exhibited locally and internationally in institutions, galleries, artist-run, and non-traditional art spaces. His curation has encompassed solo projects and group exhibitions highlighting recent shifts between artistic practices and new technologies, evolving relationships between artists and the natural world, as well as projects that focus around arts education. 

With his curatorial project The Electric Comma which was a collaboration between KADIST Art Foundation and V-A-C Foundation in Venice, Italy, the exhibition focused on changes in language, perception, and understanding in the age of artificial intelligence as artists dealt with the negotiations between the conscious mind and the currently pervasive learning machine. In a recent group exhibition Living Things at the SFArtsED gallery at Minnesota Street Project in San Francisco, Pete invited artists to exhibit works alongside personal items, each extracted from an artist’s home or studio, all unique glimpses into their creative lives and ways of perceiving the world. Merging his practice as a media artist and curator, Pete has made countless short films with artists in their studios and beyond, working with artists in New York, Mexico City, Paris, Colombia, and beyond. 

Pete received an MFA from the San Francisco Art Institute and a BFA from California College of the Arts. His visual art practice spans painting, sculpture, and media installation. His investigations focus on fissures in the age of the Anthropocene with a specific focus on evolving dynamics between forces of nature and human-based action. His works and projects have been shown in solo and group exhibitions, as public art projects, and in film festivals internationally.
