From monotypes made through unorthodox methods with materials salvaged from homeless encampments to the collected feathers of 20 different birds, Reclaimed/Repurposed showcases an incredible breadth of creativity and ingenuity in artworks by fifty-three artists selected for exhibition by juror, Nancy Toomey of Nancy Toomey Fine Art. Many of the works tackle deep and poignant subjects through the use of meaningful items while others reinforce the essential beauty and integrity found in the most basic of objects. Classic cardboard and paper assemblages hold stage alongside elaborate constructions formed from natural materials or high-tech discards. Repurposed paint, discarded clothing and plastic debris are graced with the artist’s eye and hand in our 10th annual juried show at Gearbox Gallery.
