Katie’s upcoming show Strange Menagerie includes intricate hybrid creatures sourced from her collection of antique illustrated books. From these magical tomes she incises and extracts with the precision of a surgeon; creating beings that are fragmented and reattached in new configurations. Her studio space is part creative stage and part laboratory. The re-born creature slightly hovers on its stage as if it is a specimen being prepared for preservation and categorization.
