Embraced Land

Stephanie Dennis lives and works in Oakland, CA. Her abstract drawings and paintings are rooted in the landscape and investigate ideas about place, migration, loss and belonging. Using a range of materials in her practice, she employs expressionistic mark-making, line and shape to create compositions that probe our perception of safety and vulnerability. Her work is often characterized by forms coalescing into contained structures or dispersing out across space.
