The work from this series are about how humanity’s idea of shelter has changed over the millennia. We have gone from believing a shelter is safety from natural elements to believing in it as an investment. These are based on natural shelters from around the world but I have added real estate signs in front of them, I wanted to express not only how we have commodified shelter, but how the role colonialism plays in this commodification by including a symbol of capitalism.

Who is selling these shelters? Who built them and who is buying them. Will they be torn down and replaced by market rate housing? Colonialism is the original gentrifier and it has never stopped.
