I took this photo from a plane, flying out over the industrial area near Oakland airport. I printed it on Japanese rice paper, cropped to the point of abstraction. Then I printed translucent colors over it using a plexiglass plate and stencils. The resulting print takes on a dreamy quality, at odds with the actual harsh landscape. There is no way to tell where this is so I named it Middle of Nowhere, the feeling that so much of humanity has today.
